Why Our Process of Window Cleaning Is Different

Most window cleaning companies will not tell you what they actually do on your property. You get a price and a truck shows up. We think that is backwards, especially on the coast, where the difference between a good clean and a clean that spots over in a week comes down to gear and method most people never see.

So here is the whole thing, start to finish. Our cleaners, we work with in San Clemente follow this same process of window cleaning on every home, from a beachfront condo at the Pier Bowl to a two-story in Talega. Read it before you book anyone, ours or otherwise. It will tell you what good work looks like.

Our process of How we cleaned your San Clemente windows

The Six Steps: Our Process Of Cleaning

1

Step 1: The Call and the Honest Quote

It starts with a conversation, not a hard sell. When you call, we ask where in San Clemente you are, how many stories, roughly how many windows, and when the glass was last done, and that is usually enough to give you an honest ballpark on the spot. Distance from the water matters more here than almost anywhere, so we ask about it up front. If your glass has white spots that will not wipe off, that is a different job, hard water restoration, and we tell you before we quote it. See how visits are priced on our cost guide.

2

Step 2: The On-Site Walk-Through

Before any water touches the glass, our cleaner walks the property with you. This is where we catch what a phone call cannot: irrigation heads spraying the windows, screens gone brittle from UV, tracks packed with sand, or a pane already cloudy from a failed seal that cannot be cleaned. If we find etching or a blown double-pane seal, we tell you it is damage, not dirt, rather than taking your money for something a clean cannot fix. We confirm the quote in person, so the number you heard on the phone is the number you pay.

3

Step 3: Prep and Protection

Good window cleaning is mostly what happens before the squeegee. We lay down protection along sills and floors and clear the tracks and frames of the sand and grit coastal wind packs into everything, because dragging a squeegee across a sandy frame grinds that grit into the glass. On the exterior we knock down the loose salt film first, and the screens come off for their own cleaning, since a clean window behind a dirty screen still looks dirty. More on our screen cleaning page.

4

Step 4: The Exterior Clean With Pure Water

This is the step built specifically for San Clemente. The tap water is very hard by USGS standards, so rinsing coastal glass with a garden hose trades salt film for mineral spots. Instead we use purified, mineral-free water fed through carbon-fiber poles, so the glass dries with nothing left behind: no spots, no streaks. It’s also how we slow salt-air damage to the whole window. The poles reach second-story and high atrium glass from the ground, with no ladders on your stucco and no blades on coated glass.

5

Step 5: The Interior Detail

Inside, the work slows down, because this is your home. We use a low-moisture method with lint-free microfiber and pane-sized squeegees, so there is no water running down your walls and no drips on the sill. Corners and edges get hand-detailed, since that is where haze hides and a rushed job always shows. We wipe the frames and sills, reset anything we moved, and put the screens back once they are clean and dry.

6

Step 6: The Quality Walk and Your Schedule

Before we call it done, our cleaner walks the finished glass with you, in the light, and anything not right gets redone on the spot, so you do not find a problem after we drive away. Then we talk honestly about how often your home actually needs this: a beachfront property every four to six weeks, an inland Talega home maybe quarterly. We match the schedule to your real exposure and explain why, which we lay out on our page about why windows get dirty so fast.

Why Every Step Matters: What Goes Wrong When Crews Cut Them

Every step of our process above exists because we have seen what happens when it gets skipped. This is not filler, it is the difference between glass that stays clear and glass that spots over in days.

  • Skip the walk-through, and you pay for damage you cannot fix. A crew that never inspects will happily clean a fogged double-pane or an etched window and leave the cloudiness exactly where it was.
  • Skip the prep, and you get gritty streaks. Dragging a squeegee across sandy frames grinds coastal grit into the glass, and on soft coated glass it can leave permanent fine scratches.
  • Rinse with tap or hose water, and you trade salt for spots. The glass looks clean while wet, then dries covered in the mineral spots our very hard water leaves behind.
  • Use blades to save time, and you risk scratching. Scraping coated or tempered glass to speed through bonded buildup is how expensive windows get ruined.
  • Skip the quality walk, and the problems become yours. Every missed streak is something you discover later, a phone call and a return trip instead of a thirty-second fix.

Our Coastal Process vs. a Rushed Wipe-Down

Our Process

  • Before the clean: walk-through, honest quote, damage flagged up front
  • Exterior rinse: purified, mineral-free water, dries spot-free
  • Reach: carbon-fiber poles from the ground, no ladders on your walls
  • Bonded buildup: soft detailing, restoration quoted separately and honestly
  • Screens and tracks: removed, cleaned, sand cleared before the squeegee
  • Finish: we walk the glass with you and redo anything missed
  • Schedule: matched to your distance from the water

A Rushed Wipe-Down

  • Before the clean: truck shows up and starts spraying
  • Exterior rinse: hose or tap water, leaves mineral spots
  • Reach: ladders leaned on stucco, blades on high glass
  • Bonded buildup: blade-scraped, scratch risk on coated glass
  • Screens and tracks: left in place, grit dragged across the glass
  • Finish: crew leaves, you find the streaks later
  • Schedule: generic twice a year, always behind the coast

Questions People Ask About How We Work

For the walk-through and the final quality walk it helps to have you there, but you do not have to hover through the middle. Many customers do the walk-through, step away, and come back for the finish. For exterior-only visits you often do not need to be home at all, we just need access to the glass.

It is a filter setup that strips the minerals out of the water before it hits your glass. It matters in San Clemente specifically because our tap water is very hard, so an ordinary hose rinse dries with mineral spots. Mineral-free water has nothing to leave behind, so the glass dries clear on its own.

Not by default, and never on coated or tempered glass without talking to you first. Blades are how scratches happen. We remove bonded buildup with soft detailing, and heavy hard water deposits are handled as a separate restoration job, which we explain on our hard water stain removal page.

Carbon-fiber pure-water poles that reach from the ground, so there are no ladders leaning on your stucco and no one balancing over a slope. It is safer for the crew and safer for your home. For homes that genuinely need height work, our cleaners follow OSHA high-access practices.

It depends almost entirely on how close you are to the water. Beachfront homes often need it every four to six weeks, mid-city every six to eight, and inland communities can stretch to quarterly. We tell you honestly at the quality walk, and you can read the full breakdown on our page about why windows get dirty so fast.
